UK consumers showing generosity via credit cards

Recent figures relating to credit card expenditure indicates that the Brits are a generous lot, with many using their credit cards to make donations to various causes or charities.

Over recent years figures indicate that more and more people have been using their credit cards to make donations to charity, enabling them to enjoy ease and convenience whilst contributing to worthy causes.

Since 2004 the amount that UK consumers have been donating to charities and worthy causes through the use of credit cards has been steadily rising according to figures released from APACS. In January 2004 the average amount being donated per card to charities was around £68.82. However, by January 2006 this figure appears to have risen to around £75.55.

According to APACS UK consumers are giving more than ever before when it comes to credit card based charitable donations.

One APACS official said: "This is just one of the ways that we use our cards to help charities. Whatever the charity, more and more of us turn to our plastic to show our support."

And this isn’t the only way that consumers are helping charities and worthy causes through their credit cards. Amongst the many types of credit cards available these days consumers can – and often do – select charity based credit cards, which provide the ideal way to contribute to your favourite charity or worthy cause without having to go to any effort other than using your credit card in the normal way.

Charity based credit cards enable users to enjoy the convenience and ease of credit card spending, whilst helping out a worthy cause.

These cards work by donating a small percentage of the amount spent on the card to the designated charity, so the more you spend the more your charity will receive.
